Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about CoupleCash.

General

What is CoupleCash?
CoupleCash is a personal finance app that helps you manage bills, debts, and savings goals. It works great on its own, and even better when you pair up with a partner to manage shared expenses.
Can I use CoupleCash on my own?
Yes. CoupleCash works perfectly as a personal finance app. Track your bills, manage debts, set savings goals, and monitor your budget. If you decide to pair up with a partner later, everything you have set up carries over.
Is CoupleCash only for married couples?
Not at all. CoupleCash works for anyone: individuals, married couples, partners, housemates, or anyone sharing expenses. The Couple Mode feature is optional.
Which platforms is CoupleCash available on?
CoupleCash is available on iOS, Android, and the web. Your data syncs across all devices in real time.

Individual Use

What can I do as an individual user?
Track all your bills with flexible frequencies (weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly), manage debts with payoff tracking, set savings goals, view monthly budget reports, and get bill reminders. No partner required.
What happens to my data if I pair up later?
Everything carries over. Your bills, debts, savings goals, and payment history all stay intact. You can then choose which items to share with your partner and which to keep personal.
Do I need a partner to use Premium features?
No. Premium features like custom bill splits, debt tracking, savings goals, and budget categories all work for individual users. Couple Mode is just one of many Premium features.

Couple Mode

How do I invite my partner?
Go to Settings and create a pairing code. Share the code with your partner, who enters it in their app. Once accepted, your accounts are linked and you can start managing money together.
Can my partner see all my bills?
You control visibility. Choose which bills are shared and visible to your partner, and which remain personal and private. Only shared items appear in the household view.
What happens if we disconnect?
You can disconnect at any time. Your personal data remains intact. Shared bills revert to your personal account. No data is lost.
How do income-based splits work?
Set each partner's income in the app. Shared bills are split proportionally based on what each person earns. If one partner earns 60% of the household income, they pay 60% of shared bills. You can override the split for any individual bill.

Pricing

Is there a free version?
Yes. The Free tier includes up to 5 personal bills, 1 shared bill, 50/50 splits, 3 custom categories, and data export. It is free forever, not a trial.
What is the difference between Individual and Couple plans?
Both plans include the same premium features: unlimited bills, all split methods, debt tracking, savings goals, and more. The Couple plan (3.59 per month) also gives your partner free premium access. The Individual plan is 2.49 per month for one person.
Can I try before paying?
Yes. New users get a 14-day free trial of all premium features. Your card is collected upfront but you are not charged until the trial ends.
Can I cancel anytime?
Absolutely. Cancel your subscription anytime and keep Premium features until the end of your billing period. No questions asked.

Security

Is my financial data safe?
Yes. We use bank-level encryption for all data in transit and at rest. We never store your bank login credentials and never sell your data to anyone.
Can CoupleCash access my bank account?
Bank connections are read-only. We can see transactions but can never move money or make changes to your accounts.
What data do you collect?
We collect your email address for your account, transaction data you enter or sync, and anonymised app usage analytics. We never sell this data to anyone.
